Every time somebody Bids at the end of the auction, the Bid clock resets. People or Shills using automated computer programs can outbid you at the last microsecond. Every time you Bid you are charged points that cost you money to buy.

If you want an item, you have to stay “..glued to your computer screen..” and Bid over and over again (spending more points) at each reset of their countdown Bid Clock.
